National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: It’s Kelly of the Edmonton Crush

Don’t stare at Kelly’s picture for very long. Not only is it not very gentleman-like, chances are Kelly knows what’s on that mind of yours. This week’s National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week is not only used to having fans stare at her while she dances, she backs it up with a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology. So yeah, take the advice of Seinfeld (It’s like looking at the sun. You don’t stare at it. It’s too risky!!), take your look and then get to know why Kelly likes to dance.

The second-year member of the Edmonton Crush was raised in Vancouver before moving to Edmonton earn said degree. Should come in handy in trying to gauge why the brain does what it does whether it’s all liquored up at a lacrosse game or sitting at a computer monitor researching lacrosse stats. Kelly doesn’t have much time for that, though, because she’s pretty active as a volunteer in the Edmonton community, according to NLL.com.

She’s a tutor for kids aged 3 to 17 while also coordinating charity events for the Canadian Paraplegic Association, a noble endeavor indeed. Dance, though, is her release. It allows her the thrill of performance and the satisfaction of sport, not to mention the friendship and fun she finds with the rest of the dance team for the Rush. In her free time, she might be sailing, doing crossword puzzles or playing Cranium. Don’t play her for a dinner if you’re the meat-loving type, though. She’s a vegetarian, although she does admit she could find a way to live on McDonald’s french fries and Starbuck’s coffee.

Busy woman, for sure, but all this is just what she does as she pursues her ultimate goal of a PhD in Child Psychology, a field she hopes to someday have her own practice in.
