National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: Matchup 2 is Doris vs. Laura

Not even close. In our first National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week matchup for this season, Gina rolled to an amazingly dominant victory by a vote count of 1,702 to 64. Maybe the chowerheads stuffed the ballot box, maybe they didn’t. Whatever the case, Gina steps into the next round as we move on to Matchup No. 2: It’s Doris of the New York Titans dance team against Laura of the Toronto Rock. We had more than 1,700 voters for this first matchup, so let’s see if we can clear the 2,000 mark this time. Ready? Set. Vote.

Doris had her day as this year’s very first NLL Girl of the Week. She’s a second-year member of the Titans team and is loving every minute of it, not that she has a lot of minutes to spare. She’s a busy Communications major at St. John’s University, where she recently wrapped up an internship at VH1 and helped with casting calls for a reality show. As a dancer, she’s been part of the dance team for the NFL’s New York Jets, and her audition for the NBA’s New York Knicks dance team didn’t quite have a happy ending.

That’s not keeping her spirits down, though, as she continues to chase her dream of owning and operating a dance studio on Long Island. And besides that, she still gets to dance in Madison Square Gardens whenever the Titans do play there, so that’s cool by her, she says. And when she’s not busy dancing, auditioning, studying or casting, she’s out there doing charity work, specifically for terminally ill kids with the Marty Lyons Foundation.

As for Laura, she does her dancing and her work north of the border for the Toronto Rock. You may remember Laura as the NLL Girl of the Week when she claimed her most memorable trip was to NYC when a blackout struck and she was stuck in a motel room with 10 other women. OK … we suppose that would be memorable. But the thing that sticks out the most about Laura is her admission that she’s Canadian and doesn’t know how to skate on ice. Anyone think she’s learned yet? Anyone offer to teach?

Either way, Laura’s having a ton of fun with the Rock crew, even if the team’s record isn’t all that hot. As long as she’s got her fajitas from Lone Star, she’s one happy woman.

So there ya have it. Doris and Laura. Who is YOUR pick for Matchup No. 2?

What type of celebrations would you like to see after big NLL goals?
