Former San Jose Stealth head coach, Jeff Dowling, has stepped down from his role as the team’s offensive coach.
It was just last week that the Stealth had made the decision to swap current San Jose head coach, Chris Hall, with Dowling, shifting Hall into the team’s head coaching position and Dowling into Hall’s previously held assistant coaching role, a musical chairs bench move rarely seen at the pro level in lacrosse or any other sport.
The Stealth have promoted Joe Romano to the team’s offensive assistant role after Dowling’s departure.
“Joe is a natural leader and we are so happy that he is stepping up and running our offense,” said San Jose President and GM Johnny Mouradian in a press release issued by the franchise. “We know Joe will bring the best out of this unit.”
In a statement via NLL.com, Hall had previously stated, “It was a tough time for both of us to work through during the week,” referencing his relationship with Dowling. The two had previously spent time together with the Calgary Roughnecks before teaming up again in San Jose this winter.
