Edmonton edges Portland 11-10

In perhaps the most important quarter of the most important game so far this season for the Edmonton Rush, there was Callum Crawford and Mike Hominuck, like a pair of lacrosse stick-wielding white knights, each scoring twice in the third quarter to claw back from a 6-5 deficit and take the one-goal lead that would hold until the end to secure the 11-10 win and with it, the Rush’s chances at a first playoff berth.
Crawford led the way with three goals and four assists, Hominuck and Jimmy Quinlan each scored twice and assisted on four, Dan Teat scored three, and Andy Secore had one score and four helpers. Defender Ian Hawskbee had another great game, picking up ten looseballs and assisting on three goals. Chris Levis made 43 stops in the win.
For Portland, Joel Weber got the start in net and made 30 saves on 41 shots. He got help from Cory Conway with three goals, Peter Morgan had two goals three helpers, Ryan Powell had one and three, and Brodie Merrill two and two plus 11 looseballs.
Edmonton travels to Minnesota tonight to take on the Swarm, and Portland returns home to face Colorado. The winner of the Rush-Swarm game will move into a tie with San Jose for fourth in the West.
