Can Rhys Duch and San Jose out-gun Calgary?
San Jose’s offense was exceptional against Portland last weekend as they put in 20 goals scoring on 27% of their shots.

Rookie star Ruch Duch put up six points while rookie ‘tender Tyler Richards bounced back from a shaky start to record 40 saves in the win. Hyped American rookie Paul Rabil contributed a goal.

Key to watch will this weekend will also be San Jose’s first-round picks from two years ago in sophomore forwards Frank Resetarits and Tom Johnson, as they combined for five goals and eight points in the first-round game.

Calgary has a more experienced line-up, however, their leading scorer Dane Dobbie is just a sophomore. Brothers Mike and Scott Carnegie also continue to impress out of the defensive end in just their second seasons.

That San Jose versus Calgary game should be a barn-burner. Calgary, who boasts the league’s best record, led the Western Division in goals scored during the regular season averaging close to 13 goals per game.

The Buffalo Bandits travel to the Prudential Center in the NLL’s other Division Final game.

Buffalo is deep and experienced in defense of their ’08 Champion’s Cup. Their youngsters logging time are Kyle Schmelzle and Joe Smith, two big defenders who each stand 6-foot-1, 200 pounds.

New York is receiving contributions from rookies Stephen Peyser, Steve Ammann and Jeff Bigas. Sophomores to watch are Titans’ transition star Jordan Hall and aggressive defender Rory Smith.

The Buffalo versus New York game will kick off the second-round of the playoffs Saturday, May 9 at 7:30pm EST. San Jose at Calgary follows on the same night with a 9:00pm EST start.
