It could be Newark or bust for the Titans moving forward (updated)

The New York Post it reporting that for the New York Titans to survive past the 2009 season, it appears that the team’s only workable option right now is picking up and moving full-time to Newark, New Jersey, playing out of the Prudential Center, similar to what they did for a majority of this past season.

Although earlier reports by both NLL Insider and the New York Post indicated current NLL ownership had opted not to pursue the sale of the team to an ownership group that would move the franchise to Orlando, Florida, NLL VP of Communications, Doug Fritts, tells NLL Insider that no such decision had occurred. Lacrosse Links: Indoor Talent in the 2009 MLL Collegiate Draft

Major League Lacrosse held their collegiate draft last evening in at Stevens University in Hoboken, N.J. (Inside Lacrosse blogged the event here). The Chicago Machine took Syracuse attackman Kenny Nims with the first over ball pick, hoping to team him with 2008 ‘Cuse stars Mike Leveille and Steven Brooks on the Machine’s offense. The Denver Outlaws picked Cornell middie Max Seibald with the second overall pick. READ MORE »

Although there has been little buzz behind the scenes since the Portland Lumberjax announced, three weeks back, that the team would no longer be operating in city of Portland, NLL Insider has learned that all hope should definitely not be lost for the franchise heading into the 2010 season.

Gina is the first brunette and she’s locked up the first spot in our championship matchup by virtue of her 8,585 voting victory over Kelly last week. This week, we’ve got a pair of brunettes in Heidi and Marie, and they’re duking it out for the second spot in the title match. Cody Jamieson, Sid Smith Lead Syracuse to NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship

At the end of a crazy NCAA Championship Game on Monday in Foxboro’s Gillette Stadium, Cody Jamieson stuck the game-winner and immediately sprinted the length of the field to hug his boy Sid Smith. Both Six Nations vets were excellent all weekend long, and wound up being the story out of Syracuse’s 11th NCAA championship. READ MORE »


The National Lacrosse League (NLL) American Revolution, Revisited

The number of American field lacrosse players finding success in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) has continued to grow in an important shift for the professional game in North America.

In the December 2008 issue of Inside Lacrosse Magazine, Jon Brand accurately stated that the committed U.S. lacrosse players taken in the last NLL Entry Draft “are just what the indoor game needs if it wants to reach the next level: marketable, talented and, most importantly, American.” READ MORE »

Although the Toronto Rock may not be prepared to make things official, several sources close to both the franchise and man rumoured to be the front-runner for the Rock head coaching and GM role, have confirmed with NLL Insider that Derek Keenan will in fact be both the team’s new bench boss and manager, with an announcement from the team expected as early as this week.

Last week, Rock President Brad Watters confirmed with NLL Insider that he was given permission to interview the Portland Lumberjax’s coach and was going through the interview process with Keenan. READ MORE »

The Brooklin Redmen won’t have to wait long for a shot at redemption after John Tavares and Mike Accursi led St. Regis to their first win of the season last night, 11-8 over the visiting Redmen. Tavares tallied two goals and three assists, while Accursi scored three, and Shawn Williams led Brooklin scorers with three goals and four assists.
