NLL Insider has learned that the National Lacrosse League has opted to extend their June 1st deadline for relocation applications by two weeks.
The new cut-off date for applications this year will be Monday June 15th.
This is the first time since the league established a June 1st deadline for teams looking to relocate, that they have extended the deadline.
NLL Insider has also learned, that although the Portland Lumberjax, San Jose Stealth and New York Titans have all been strongly rumoured to be on the move, as of today, the league has not received any applications from any of those three franchises. Presumably, all three teams are still trying to make various possibilities work and will need part of or all of the next two weeks to see those possibilities through.
Of the three franchises rumoured to be on the move, only the Lumberjax have given official word on their unfortunate demise in their current city of play, NLL Insider learning last week that the team’s best and most plausible option looks to be Everett, Washington.
Sources have confirmed with NLL Insider that both the Stealth and Titans are looking at various options for 2010, but neither franchise has released anything to the media or public in regards to their future.
The league had no further word on franchise movement as of this morning, and official word is not expected until their newly imposed deadline.
