Where in the MSL world is Chad Culp? Plus the links

For the last two summers, Chad Culp has balled with the Barrie Lakeshores as well as with his hometown Junior B Owen Sound Woodsmen. Where will he play this summer once he recovers from a high ankle sprain suffered with Minnesota late in the National Lacrosse League season? No one knows for sure, but what we do know is that the situation could get ugly. Barrie Lakeshores president Mike Kloepfer tells the Barrie Examiner that he wants Culp to play for Barrie and Barrie only. Culp says his priority right now is to get healthy.
Kloepfer told the Examiner that Barrie owns Culp’s summer rights and the team is ready to call its hand and keep Culp from playing anywhere this summer. Barrie and Owen Sound had been affiliates until that ended this past offseason and Owen Sound hooked up with Kitchener-Waterloo. “We don’t think Chad should be playing Sr. ‘B’ lacrosse,” Kloepfer said. “We don’t want Sr. ‘B’ teams forcing our hand any more.”
Culp, meanwhile, is resting that ankle and seems to be taking the situation in stride. He told the Examiner he’d love to play for both teams, but acknowledges it’s out of his hands. An appeal the Ontario Lacrosse Association is possible, but there’s no official news of any sort of filing with the sport’s governing body.
“The more lacrosse, the more practice, the better you’re going to get,” said Culp, an Arthur native. “(The setup) is what I did the last two years, and I didn’t think it would be a problem. But when it’s not in your hands, I guess there’s really nothing you can do.”
