13 of 16 playoff spots clinched in Ontario Jr. B lacrosse

Yes, it’s true, just over halfway through June and the boys of B are right down to the wire, with seven of eight postseason berths clinched in the East, and six of eight in the West.
The top team from each division is seeded 1, 2, or 3 in their conference based on points, and the following five contenders are slotted according to their Ws, Ls and Ts. A quick look at who’s in, who’s out, and who’s still struggling for the three remaining spots after the jump.
EASTERN CONFERENCE CURRENT SEEDINGS
1. Clarington Green Gaels
Currently: 17-1-0, have clinched the Mid-East Division Title
2. Halton Hills Bulldogs
Currently: 14-2-1, have clinched the South-East Division Title
3. Gloucester Griffins
Currently: 10-7, in the unlikely event that they lose their remaining three games and Cornwall wins all three of theirs, Cornwall will overtake Gloucester for the Far East Divsion Title. Gloucester has clinched a playoff spot regardless, and two more wins will put the title out of reach of the Celtics.
4. Newmarket Saints
Currently: 15-3, second in the Mid-East, probably the second-best team right now in all of the East and the only team to beat Clarington this season but slotted fourth due to division toppers sitting 1,2,3
5. Mimico Mountaineers
Currently: 9-6-1, second in the South-East, with four games left to play they won’t be overtaking Newmarket but probably won’t slip below Cornwall either
6. Cornwall Celtics
Currently: 8-8-1, second in the Far East, as mentioned, it is numerically possible that they could jump past Gloucester in the Far East standings to take the divisional title and the third seed, but it’s not likely
7. Markham Ironheads
Currently: 7-8-2, third in the South-East, a 1-7 skid in their last eight games hasn’t been enough to keep the Ironheads out of the playoffs
STILL KICKING: That final spot has come down to Nepean and Orillia. Nepean currently has the upper hand with 14 points and two games remaining. Orillia has 11 with two to play as well. One more win will lock it up for Nepean. Their remaining games are vs. Gloucester and Cornwall, the two teams jockeying for the top of the Far East Division. Orillia’s final two games will be against the already-eliminated Huntsville, which gives the Rama-Hammond Kings a good shot at winning out, but at the moment they do not control their own destiny.
ELIMINATED: The Huntsville Hawks, Kahnawake Hunters, and Mississauga Tomahawks
WESTERN CONFERENCE CURRENT SEEDINGS
1. Windsor AKO Fratmen
Currently: 13-3-1, thus far the only Western team to lock up their division title, the Fratmen have won the Far West
2. St. Catharines Spartans
Currently: 12-5, a member of the tightest division in Ontario Jr. B, the Spartans are still fighting off Six Nations, Welland and Oakville for the number one spot in the South-West
3. Elora Mohawks
Currently: 10-4-3, currently first in the Mid-East but could actually be overtaken by the third place Guelph Regals as only three points separate the teams and they each have three games left to play, including one vs. each other.
4. Six Nations Rebels
Currently: 11-6-1, second in the South West by virtue of their points for and points against totals as they share a record with the Welland Warlords
5. Welland Warlords
Currently: 11-6-1, third in the South West
6. Oakville Buzz
Currently: 11-7, fourth in the South West
STILL KICKING: Two spots left with three teams in the running. Currently in contention are the Guelph Regals who have 20 points with three games remaining, the Owen Sound NorthStars who have 20 points but just one game left to play, and the Orangeville Northmen who have 19 with two games to go. Guelph and Orangeville each have a chance to strengthen their postseason positions tonight when they face each other at the Tony Rose, 8:00 PM.
ELIMINATED: Hamilton Bulldogs, Sarnia Pacers, Wallaceburg Red Devils, London Blue Devils, and the Niagara Thunderhawks
