The Money Ballers: Jr. A Edition Week 3

The two guys in the top two spots in The Money Ballers, again this week, are a combined 66 points outside of evening tying the nation’s top scorer.

Tyler Digby scored just one last night in New West’s dissapointing 8-5 loss to the Burnaby Lakers, but of course, as usual, it registered on The Money Ballers, giving him a half a point lead over the Toronto Beaches’ Carter Bender, in what is shaping up to be by far our closest ever edition of The Money Ballers over four editions.

Digby currently sits 30 points behind BC scoring leader Robert Church, while Bender is lagging even further in Ontario, 36 points behind Andrew Potter.

Scoring in bunches doesn’t always matter in The Money Ballers, scoring smart and on-time does, and both Digby and Bender have been doing that consistently for their teams.

New to the rundown this week are Coquitlam’s Travis Cornwall, St. Catharines’ Joel Matthews and Six Nations’ Randy Staats. All three guys scored some big goals this past week, whether their team won or lost.

One of this week’s biggest gainers is Burlington Chiefs forward Ryan Learn, whose six clutch points on the boards saw him score a game tying goal, a go ahead goal and a third period game winner against the KW Braves. Learn also leads in the OLA in straight game winning goals with three. Oddly enough though, the Chiefs’ sniper didn’t score a single game winner in any of Burlington’s 13 regular season wins last year.

One guy to watch that dominated the charts last year and is just a few points shy of crashing the leaderboard this week, is Whitby’s Mark Matthews. Matthews impressed large in his freshman year at Denver U this past college season, and although he has only fit into six games for the Warriors, he already has 28 points, just a single clutch point outside of landing a spot on the rundown below (in just six games!!). The Oshawa native was one of the few players not named Cody Jamieson to lead The Money Ballers last year, finishing 13th overall by the end of the summer. Don’t be surprised to see the surging Warrior on the charts next Wednesday.
