NLL Insider has learned that current National Lacrosse League Interim-Commissioner, George Daniel, will be named the league’s full-time Commissioner, the league’s board of governors approving and fully supporting the promotion during their meetings in Philadelphia in recent weeks.

Daniel is currently in the process of signing a new contract with the NLL, a deal that would see him as the league’s boss for the next two seasons, carrying his tenure into the 2011 NLL season.

It was just under six months ago that Daniel took over the post after long-time league Commissioner Jim Jennings stepped down in order to spend more time with his family.

Previous to joining the NLL, Daniel brought with him several years of managerial experience through various American basketball leagues. Daniel spent time in the International Basketball Association and Atlantic Basketball Association before becoming the NLL’s Deputy Commissioner and General Counsel from 2000 to 2006.

Daniel was also appointed the New York Titans’ President during their expansion season in ‘07, taking a one year hiatus from his role at the league’s head office.

It’s expected an official announcement will be made by the league shortly.

Stay tuned to NLL Insider for more developing news throughout the NLL’s off-season this summer.
