OLA Jr. A Playoffs: Five spots locked, final three free for all

With ten days of regular season ball left on the docket in Ontario, it looks like those final couple playoff spots available will come down to the wire, just like we’re seeing in BC this weekend (a win tonight by Delta over PoCo knocks the Saints out and secures a spot for the T-Men… a PoCo win keeps things very interesting… Nanaimo and PoCo play tomorrow night), with technically only the Mississauga Tomahawks completely out of the post-season mix.

The Tommies have just one win on 19 tries this year, their two points way too far out to catch even the eighth, and final, spot in the OLA playoff chase.

Five teams have locked things up, and although first place is still being hotly contested, Orangeville, Burlington, Brampton, St. Catharines and Six Nations already have enough points to sail into this year’s post-season.

Although the math says the Atheltics and Arrows still have a chance at first place, their max 32 points will likely not be enough to leap over the Northmen, Chiefs or Excels, whose end of season point total will likely be in the high 30’s.

Although the Peterborough Lakers are sittin’ pretty with 18 points and presently in sixth, they can still technically be caught, everyone outside of Toronto (and obviously Missy) with the ability to sink them.

The K-W Braves currently own the seventh spot, but take a look at what they have left below. Can they survive and eek out even just a couple points to extend their season?

Akwesasne and Barrie have strung some decent results together of late, but can they do enough to push themselves into the top eight, especially the Indians, who see three of this year’s top teams to close-out?

Can the long ago written off Beaches win-out and crash the party? Unlikely, but still doable.

Lots still to cram into ten days of lacrosse, each team’s remaining breakdown below…
