NLL Insider has learned that the Edmonton Rush and Minnesota Swarm have made a blockbuster six-player, high draft pick swap that sees Ryan Ward in Edmonton and Ryan Benesch and Scott Self in Minnesota.
In another huge move eventually involving four teams, the Washington Stealth have reaquired Luke Wiles, while ‘08 first round draft pick, Kevin Huntley, finally finds his way to Philadelphia.
Sandy Chapman back in TO. Mike Kirk the newest Boston Blazer. Find out exactly who went where after today’s Portland Lumberjax Dispersal Draft, after the jump.
So in today’s biggest post-draft deal, Ward is joined by defender Justin Norbraten, along with with Scott Stewart and Richard Morgan, both picked up in today’s dispersal, while Minnesota picks up Benesch, Self, and the Rush’s ninth overall entry draft pick in the upcoming ‘09 draft.
In a move involving four teams, the Toronto Rock dealt Wiles, who the franchise just picked up from San Jose originally during last year’s off-season, back to the Stealth, in exchange for Huntley, who San Jose drafted last year but could never come to terms with. Coincidentally, the pick Toronto dealt to acquire Wiles was used to select Huntley last year. Also going to Toronto in today’s move is the Stealth’s 2011 second round entry draft pick.
The Rock than immdiately swapped Huntley to the Philadelphia Wings, along with Chicago Shamrox dispersal pickup, Bill McGlone, in exchange for the Wings’ 2011 second rounder, as well as Peter Jacobs, who Philly had just picked up earlier today in the Jax dispersal.
And finally, Toronto than shipped off Jacobs to the Rochester Knighthawks in exchange for Sandy Chapman, who previous to spending the last four years with Rochester, had started his pro career with Toronto, drafted by the Rock after a successful junior career with the Brampton Excelsiors.
And in today’s final official move, the Boston Blazers traded two-way worker Jason Bloom to the Washington Stealth for hard hitting pure defender, Mike Kirk, a player the Stealth traded for after last year’s dispersal draft, dealing one of their 2010 first round picks to Rochester.
It’s expected there a few other moves on the burner waiting to be finalized, while officially, Brodie Merrill’s rights currently belong to the Edmonton Rush.
