As part as NLL Insider’s ‘09 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft coverage, we’ll be checking in with a handful of prospects available this year, and putting them under the lamp with a round of questions to give NLL teams and fans a better idea of what to expect from them at training camps this fall and winter.

This week we check in with former OLA Jr. B scoring sensation and NCAA Division II 120-plus goal scorer, Dave Hodgins, who’s slick, physical and mature presence on O and through the roof numbers with every team he’s played for should have him high on a number of team’s draft depth charts come September. After the jump, check out what else Hodgins has to offer and check back weekly for more prospect profiles.

Dave Hodgins

Height: 5’11”
Weight: 190 lbs.
Position: Forward
Shoots: Left
From: Windsor, Ontario
NCAA: Mars Hill College
Junior: Windsor AKO Fratmen

What do you feel your greatest asset is that would allow you to translate your game to the NLL?
“My ability to finish and feed in tight spaces with pressure. I am a great team player and can see plays before they happen, and then make them happen.

One (or a couple) word(s) to describe your game?
“Physical, hardworking, improving.”

What role/position do you see yourself playing in the NLL?
“I would see myself playing on the offensive side of the ball, working hard to get my teammates open and feed the ball.”

What current or former NLLer would you most closely compare your game to?
“I wouldn’t say I could compare myself to him but I try to model my game after Gavin Prout. I like how he is a big offensive threat, but also plays a physical game.”

Your greatest accomplishment (team or individual) during your college, junior, or even senior lacrosse career?
“In 2009, Mars Hill achieved its first regular season Deep South Conference Championship and highest ever USILA ranking (8th). In 2008, I helped lead my team to Mars Hill’s first Deep South Conference Tourney Championship. In 2007, I led NCAA II in assists and was also Deep South Conference Player of the Year. In 2005, I was the OLA Jr. B Western Conference scoring champion and MVP.”

Anything else to add?
“I currently hold a visa in the United States that allows me to live and work in the country.”
