The Money Ballers: Jr. A Post-Season Edition

Last week we crowned Brampton Excelsiors (and previously St. Catharines Athletics) sniper, Andrew Potter, as out ’09 regular season clutch scoring king.

This week we hit up ’09’s already pretty heated post-season with our Money Ballers playoffs edition, the charts currently knotted at the top with two guys that have taken seemingly different paths during the playoffs so far. One just came outta this summer’s tightest series, a series  in which he played a pretty monsterous role in. The second has played considerably fewer games, but has still managed to get his stick on virtually every game swaying marker his crew has buried.

After the jump, check out which two OLA studs are at the top of our first edition of the post-season Money Ballers, and who else has cracked the leaderboard.

For those tracking the playoffs so far this summer would easily have known that Six Nations Arrows 16-year old phenom, Randy Staats, and Burlington Chiefs sniper and ‘08 JOTY finalist, Kevin Brownell, have been scoring some heavy goals for their clubs, the two combining for five game winning points in just their opening round series alone, both owning 15 clutch points on the boards.

Also impressive so far?

Peterborough’s Jesse Guerin, an ‘09 JOTY finalist, put up big numbers even though his Lake Show only managed to pull-out a single W in their series against Brownell’s Chiefs, although after the regular season Guerin had, it’s not surprising that the OT winner the Lakers scored against Burlington came outta his pocket.

With just two series and only fives games done in Alberta, it’s pretty impressive to see Calgary Raiders forward Chad Mitchell, like he did during the regular season (3rd best RMLLer behind Melnyk and Barton), score some big goals when they matter most for Bruce Codd’s kids. Mitchell already has two third period game winners in only three playoff games so far this summer. The Mounties are gonna have to leash this dude up during the last 20 minutes if they hope to pull out a must-W tonight.

And although Adam Jones is garnering a lot of the much deserved praise in Orangeville, it’s been both John Quarrie and DU stud to be, Jeremy Noble, who’ve scored the biggest goals for the Northmen during this year’s playoffs. The two have two winners apiece during O’Ville’s four-zip sweep away against the Whitby Warriors.

Who else has lit the lamp when it matters most in the early part of this year’s playoffs? Scroll down…
