NLL Insider 20Q: Mike Hominuck

Toronto Rock and Brampton Excelsiors forward, Mike Hominuck
Mike Hominuck is one of the most wanted men in lacrosse.
Seriously.
Entering his seventh year in the National Lacrosse League come 2010, Hominuck will find himself on his fifth pro roster after getting picked up by the Toronto Rock earlier this off-season, but considered more than just your everyday, typical journeyman.
The former Minto (St. Catharines Athletics ‘01) and Mann Cup (Brampton Excelsiors ‘08) winner has been a regular 50-point scorer over his pro career, giving O depth to a Rock roster that is in need of consistency up front.
After the jump, check out Hominuck in NLL Insider’s 20Q, including video evidence of Mike’s favorite tilt.
Hottest most sweat soaked barn you’ve ever been in…
Hottest barn is The Turtle Dome in St. Regis.
What athlete from any other sport outside of lacrosse, do you think is also custom made to play box lacrosse…
Alexander Ovechkin would make a great lax player. Maybe make him a D guy.

Alexander Ovechkin, the NLL's first Russian?
Best lacrosse team name at any level…
Best team names are the Athletics and Excelsiors in my biased opinion.
One rule you’d change, or add, in the NLL…
I think the NLL should get rid of the thirty second shot clock when a man down. Killing a penalty is an art for some guys. And watching certain guys or teams kill a penalty is definitely most enjoyable.
If you could pick just one pre-game meal to have for the rest of your career, what would it be…
I’ll always resort to the old soup and sandwich combo.
Best surface to play box/indoor ball on, concrete, turf, or for those that have played on it, wood…
I prefer turf.
Worst injury you’ve ever sustained…
My worst injury was a second degree sprain, hyperextension of my ankle.
What past champ will bounce back to a pro championship faster, Rochester, Toronto or Philadelphia…
Toronto, obviously (lol)
Toughest arena, winter or summer, to get a win in…
Marine Midland Arena (now known as the HSBC in Buffalo) is by far the hardest arena to get a win in.

Can the Rock's huge overhaul have them making out with the Cup again?
Best fight, at absolutely any level of the game, you’ve witnessed…
Any fight with Andy Oglivie is a good fight. Best tilt I ever saw would have to be Geoff Snider and Scott Evans. Check out the vid below…
Most famous person you’ve met cuz of your lax connections…
Colin Doyle for sure (lol).
Best player nickname…
Blaine “Prairie Dog” Manning
What one band’s tunes would be perfect to use as the NLL’s soundtrack…
AC/DC
One vet not currently in the NLL you think deserves a roster spot…
Dallas Eliuk always deserves a roster spot in my books.
Are goalie pads too big in today’s game…
I think there should be a leaner restriction on the upper part of the goalie in the shoulder and arm area. That’s about it. Being a target is a tough position. I’d never want to do it.

A year on the bench in Portland, will Dallas return after getting picked up by Colorado? (Matt J. Wiater)
If you had to pick one trick as your signature move, what would it be…
The behind the back bouncer.
That one coach that made a huge difference in your lacrosse career…
Les Bartley at the junior level in St. Catharines. He taught me all the little things that I needed to know as a smaller player to get to my next level of play.
After its first year, did video replay on “goals” help the game this past season…
Video replay did help, but I found it slowed the game down far too much.
Who is the greatest ever to play the box/indoor game…
John Tavares is the best player I’ve ever watched play the indoor game. He’s the Gretzky of lacrosse.
One word to describe your game…
Suit case! Well, it’s actually two words.
Note: Hominuck has played for the Buffalo Bandits, Portland Lumberjax, Minnesota Swarm, Edmonton Rush and now Toronto Rock in the NLL, and at the Sr. A level for the defunct St. Catharines Athletics, Brooklin Redmen and Brampton Excelsiors
Geoff Snider vs. Scott Evans
