It certainly appears that long serving Colorado Mammoth goaltender, Gee Nash, has played his last game in a Mammoth sweater, currently seeking a move either through a trade or potentially signing as a restricted free agent with a team that would have him playing closer to home (Ajax, Ontario).

Nash, who the Mammoth came close to moving during the ‘09 NLL season via a trade with the Toronto Rock, missed most of last winter with a nagging back injury, later having surgery in late May to further repair the injury.

NLL Insider confirmed with Nash earlier today that he is currently on schedule as far as the healing process post-surgery, a timeline that would likely see him ready to suit up again during the NLL’s training camp period in November.

The former Champion’s Cup winner and first round draft pick of the New York Saints had spent the previous six seasons with Colorado, signing with the team after being granted unrestricted free agency when the Saints franchise closed up shop following the ‘03 NLL season.

The Mammoth split time between another couple free agent pickups last year with Nash on the sidelines, Andrew Leyshon primarily playing the starters role and Curtis Palidwor the back-up.

Colorado GM Steve Govett recently told Mammoth fans via the team’s forum, in regards to Nash’s expected departure, “We thank him for a tremendous six years here and wish him the very best in his future endevours.

“His play in the 2006 playoffs will always be a source of great pride for the organization.”
