The Victoria Jr. A Shamrocks have announced that they are seeking a new general manager and head coach after Danny Green, who’s been with the team in both positions over the past three summers, has stepped down from his roles with the club, rejecting an offer from the Shamrocks to continue into 2010.
Green, who led the Shamrocks to a Minto Cup final in ‘08, owned a 43-20-0 regular season record with the club, landing a post-season spot in each of his three seasons at the helm. Victoria was however dumped early in the first round of this year’s post-season, going down 3-1 in their series against the lower seeded New Westminster Salmonbellies.
The team’s press release stated, “The executives of the Jr. Shamrocks would like to thank Danny for all his efforts and sincerely hope that he finds every success in whatever endeavours he wishes to pursue.”
Although the search for Green’s replacement has already begun, team governor Rod Wood will serve in an interim role until any official hirings are made.
