NLL Entry Draft: Hello My Name Is… Ryan Hoff

Notre Dame attacker Ryan Hoff
With Colgate’s Brandon Corp telling NLL Insider earlier this summer that he wasn’t planning on trying his hand at the NLL, and then Virginia’s Danny Glading doing the same earlier this week (although he isn’t ruling out the NLL down the road altogether), it was pretty refreshing to run into Ryan Hoff’s opposing attitude a couple days before this year’s draft.
Hoff, like Dan Hardy, is extremely motivated and interested at landing a gig in the NLL, the University of Notre Dame’s attacker also currently up for hardware in Inside Lacrosse’s Laxies.
With 134 goals during his four years with the Irish, Hoff brings a series of tools that have pro GM’s thinking he can make the switch, number one on that list, his play in traffic and ability to bury the rock over-and-over again.
RYAN HOFF
Height: 5′11”
Weight: 203 lbs
Position: Forward
Shoots: Right
From: Baldwin, Maryland
College: University of Notre Dame
What do you feel your greatest asset is that would allow you to translate your game to the NLL?
My quick hands and accuracy in shooting.
Note: Hoff was only tied for third on the Irish in shots taken in ‘09, but easily led the team in goals (32) with an outstanding shooting percentage to match (.400)
Couple words to describe your game?
I played crease attack at Notre Dame, and use my size and strength to shield my stick while getting open in tight spaces. I use quick, soft hands and accuracy while shooting from in-tight positions.
What role/position do you see yourself playing in the NLL?
Some sort of finishing role. I have always been known as a finisher and feel that I can find a way to get my game to translate. I will find ways to put myself in position to score goals.
What current or former NLLer would you must closely compare or model your game after?
Some NLL managers and owners have said my game closely resembles Jake Bergey’s.
Your greatest accomplishment (team or individual) during college career?
My greatest team accomplishment was having an undefeated regular season my senior year. My greatest individual accomplishment was being a nominee for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, because it was an award for community work, school work and on-field accomplishments.
