New West has officially sold-out their Game 6 match of the 2009 Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) Mann Cup national championships. The game could ultimately end the Best-of-7 series, as the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) New Westminster Salmonbellies currently hold a 3-2 series lead over the Eastern Major Series League (MSL) Brampton Excelsiors.

Breaking: Brampton will also have their big studs Dan Dawson and Anthony Cosmo back in the line-up.

“With pre-sales at Queen’s Park plus the internet ones, we’re at our max of 3,400 tickets sold for Game 6,” said New West GM Dan Richardson. “They’re will be no walk-up sales tonight.”

Should the ‘Bellies lose and the series be extended to a deciding Game 7, New West’s ticket-wicket at the rink will open immediately following Game 6.

New Westminster is in a ‘Drive for 25′ Mann Cup titles. They hold a record 24 Mann Cup trophies, with their last championship coming in 1981.

The Excelsiors are looking to defend their title from 2008 when they defeated the ‘Bellies back East. Late game-day up-date: Coach Troy Cordingley says Brampton will have NLL All-Stars Dan Dawson and goaltender Anthony Cosmo back in the line-up, plus Mike Hominuck and  Sandy Chapman who all missed prior games due to work commitments.

“A lot of phone calls and favors, but we were able for all to get time off,” said Cordingley.

The 2009 Mann Cup series has been a classic featuring a Game 1 bench-brawl and three periods of over-time lacrosse. Tonight’s game in front of a sold-out crowd will be intense.

Game 6 goes Friday night, Sept. 11 at 7:45pm PST and can also be seen via pay-per-view broadcast from theboxrocks.com. Game 7, if necessary, is on Saturday.
