NLL All Star series shaping up for Australia

We’re just a little more than one month away from the National Lacrosse League All Star Series in Melbourne, Australia, on Oct. 23 and 24. Got your tickets yet? It’d be a long haul, no doubt about it, but if you are making the trip or are fortunate enough to be living Down Under already, you gotta know it’s shaping up to be a dandy. Several NLL players have been announced as participants on the event’s official Web site and the names popping up include Gary Gait, Mark Steenhuis, Matt Vinc and Casey Powell. Turn the page to see who else is planning to run and learn a bit more about the event.
In addition to Gait (Knighthawks), Steenhuis (Bandits), Vinc (Titans) and Powell (Titans), the list of players also includes Drew Westervelt (Wings), Geoff Snider (Wings), Jordan Hall (Titans), Brodie Merrill (Rush), Josh Sanderson (Roughnecks), Tom Ethington (Mammoth) and Anthony Cosmo (Blazers). As you can see, that’s not a bad collection at all.
More players will be announced in the upcoming weeks. In the meantime, check out LacrossePlayground.com to catch a peek of the jerseys along with a list of the 10 things you need to know about Aussie Lax. What we already know about lacrosse in Australia is that they are absolutely jacked about the upcoming event. Australian Keith Nyberg, who made it to the final round of cuts last year for the Roughnecks, is one of the stoked.
“The NLL players really are the best in the world and it is amazing to have these guys play in our country,” Nyberg told NLL.com in June. “Hopefully the event will showcase our sport to the Australian public and put it on the radar of young children looking to take up a new sport.”
