NLL Girl of the Week: Amanda

If we do enough of these National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contests, it’s bound to happen, right? You know what I mean. If we had a nickel for every NLL dancer who said “I’ve been dancing since the age of 3,” we’d be, well, rich. But leave it to Buffalo to break from the norm because this week’s Girl of the Week, Amanda, says she’s never taken a formal dance class before she joined the Bandettes two seasons ago. Impressive, to say the least. But that’s where we find ourselves this week, getting to know a little more about Amanda.

Amanda hopes to be back with the Bandettes for a third season and she’s trying to balance the life of a Bandette with that of being a full-time student at nearby Canisius College. That happens to be the institution where former NLL baller and Rochester Knighthawks captain Randy Mearns is the men’s lacrosse coach, so the NLL vibe runs deep on campus. Amanda’s working on her Master’s there for Physical Education and Health. The plan is to combine that degree with her B.A. in the same field and another Master’s in Athletic Administration to someday become an Athletic Director.

But you know that being an AD sometimes requires dealing with fans and where better to learn to deal with fans than in Buffalo? That’s not knock on you, Bandit fan. You know you wear that crazy rep with pride, representin’ B-lo the fullest. “My favorite part about cheering on the Bandits is being able to perform our versatile routines for the crazy fans,” Amanda told NLL.com. “I have been to countless sporting events, but nothing compares to the energy and atmosphere of Bandits games. The fans are so dedicated and crazy; I get such an adrenaline rush performing out on the field from them.”

So there ya have it. Amanda. She’s officially entered into our Girls of the Week contest and she’ll be back next week to go head-to-head with Jennifer of the Stealth.
