NLL Girl of the Week: It’s Corina vs. Leslie

We know Corina and Leslie are dancers for National Lacrosse League teams. That’s the whole point of this story. But if you look beyond the dance moves and the skimpy outfits, you soon realize there’s more. Much, much more. Leslie’s down with dental hygiene. Corina’s down with coordinating interiors. What’s that got to do with dancing? Not much, really. It’s just our effort to help ya’ll realize that as much as we love these dancers, there’s much more to them than meets the eye. So before we get to gawkin’ at the pictures after the jump, let’s get to know these semifinal contestants.

Leslie comes to us out of Denver, where she’s been a member of the Wild Bunch dance team for two years now. Whether she’s back for a third year remains to be seen, but whatever the outcome, she loves her extended family in Denver. “The Wild Bunch are a group of talented and classy women who bring a little bit of rock and roll to every Mammoth game,” she tells NLL.com. When she’s not dancing and prancing around at Colorado Mammoth games, she’s hard at work as a dental hygienist. “Don’t forget to brush your teeth twice and floss once a day,” she reminds us. And judging by the pearly whites she’s flashing in her photos, she practices what she preaches. And speaking of what you see in photographs, it’s really tough not to notice that sweet Mercedes Benz posing with her on the NLL.com page we linked ya to. The vintage ride comes from a time when cars were cars; none of this plastic stuff rollin’ on the streets today. But, we digress. Forgive us for liking cars almost more than we like lacrosse here. And for the record, Leslie is in this round by virtue of her first-round victory over Karen of the Boston Blazers, a matchup we posted way back on Sept. 16.

Leslie’s semifinal opponent is Corina out of Rochester. And the cool thing about this matchup is that she just happens to be posing with car in one of her photos, too! Sweet. And while the ride in Corina’s photo isn’t quite the vintage ride as Leslie’s, it still looks to be quite the set of wheels. We did notice it’s a right-side driver, though, so we’re dyin’ to know what the make and model of that hot rod is. But you didn’t come here to read about cars. You came here to read about the NLL dancers and Corina’s been a mainstay with the Knightingales since 2000. So yeah, she’s definitely one of the league’s veteran dancers so you just know she’s lovin’ what she’s doin’. She’s also pretty active outside of her responsibilties with the dance team, helping out at charity events all around Rochester in addition to her full-time gig as an interior designer. But before ya start thinking it’s all about making colors match for Corina, think again. “My job is not just about picking colors,” she tells NLL.com. “It’s about designing to enhance the architecture where it is not only aesthetically beautiful, but functional as well.” Functional and beautiful? Kinda applies to the dance teams too, don’t ya think? Either way, whatever Corina’s doing as coordinator for the Knightingales seems to be working just fine. Corina’s in this semifinal by virtue of an odd number of NLL girls named by the NLL this summer, so she drew a bye.
So there ya have it, dancing fans. Leslie and Corina, this week’s semifinalist contestants. Get your vote on today and when we have a winner in this bracket, she’ll be taking on the winner of our other semfinal between Jennifer and Amanda, whose poll still is open for votes.
