Junior B loop to make move to larger goals, with other news, notes and links

Pretty slow these days on the junior lacrosse circuits and that’s to be expected since we’re out of season, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing worth talking about. Offseason activity always includes talk of shifting teams and rules changes and it’s no different today as we learn that the Junior B loop is looking to play with larger cages next summer, moving from the traditional 4×4 nets to the same sized nets used by Major Series Lacrosse. Many an NLL goalie will tell you that their first week of pro training camp is a tough adjustment to the bigger nets, so we’ll see how the Junior B offense is affected in 2010.
The other big story is the vote to approve a Junior B team for the Toronto Beaches, along with the possible move of Cornwall to Akwesasne. The Kahnawake Hunters Web site makes mention of the Beaches announcement, welcoming the team to the Junior B circuit. According to the Kahnawake site, the Beaches will compete in the East Division with Mimico, Halton Hills, Clarington, New Market, Markham, Huntsville, Nepean, Gloucester, Mississauga, Orillia, Akwesasne and Kahnawake.
In the West Division is Windsor, Wallaceberg, Sarnia, London, Welland, Hamilton, St. Catherines, Six Nations, Niagra, Oakville, Guelph, Elora, Orangeville and Owen Sound. Nothing official’s been announced, that we can find, of the Cornwall move, but the speculation is pretty strong and should it come to pass, won’t surprise many.
