How many goals do you want to see in an NLL game?

The National Lacrosse League (NLL) was extremely competitive last season. Each week it was hard to predict a winner, and with the league decreasing one franchise to 11 for the up-coming 2010 NLL season, parity should continue with every team having a legitimate shot at the Cup.

But how will one less team in the league impact offensive output?

We know the league’s level of play should rise overall with stacked rosters and the talent more concentrated, but does that benefit the offense or defense?

Statistically speaking, the last four seasons would indicate less teams also means less goals.

The last time the NLL featured 11 teams, in 2006, the league averaged 22.5 goals per game. In comparison, that is 1.5 goals per game less than in ‘07 when the league featured 13 franchises and averaged 24 goals per game.

That trend suggests that we may see fewer goals this season with one less team. Over the past two seasons -’08 and ‘09 – with a dozen teams, the league averaged 23.3 goals per game.

But the 2005 NLL season throws the above data out of whack. With just 10 teams in ‘05, the pros averaged 25.1 goals per game.

With that stated, we’re forgetting the trends and asking your preference.

How many goals would you like to see on average per regular season NLL game?
