NLL Girl of the Week champ: Amanda

Another contest, another winner. With more than 5,700 votes cast, our newest National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest winner is Amanda of the Buffalo Bandettes. Thanks one and all for the votes cast. And as for Amanda’s 3,882-1,905 win over Rochester’s Corina, it’s just one more bragging right for Buffalo over Rochester. We’re not trying to stoke that fire, as if it really needs it, but part of any healthy rivalry is notching a W and Buffalo fan has another notch in the belt when it comes to rubbing it in Rochester’s face. Is Buffalo going to have a victory parade for Amanda? Probably not, but Bandit fan always has this card to play.

As we’ve explained before, Amanda’s been with the Bandettes for two seasons and isn’t quite sure if there’ll be a third. But that’s only because the 2010 team hasn’t yet been announced but is really any reason to think she won’t make the team? Yeah, she knows the routines and she knows the game and she knows the fans but more importantly, she knows her way around HSBC and that’s got to count for a lot. That’s one big barn and easy to get lost there if you’re not familiar with the place. On the serious side, if anything’s going to get her back on the squad, it’s the appreciation she has for Bandits fan. She knows how to work that crowd and as fun as it is to be dancing, it’s gotta be a ton of fun to get that building rocking and rolling. The energy there can be addicting, and knowing you can have a hand in creating it has got to be pretty cool.
So congrats to Amanda, the 2009 champ of our 2009 off-season installment of our NLL Girl of the Week contest. It’s a win well-deserved and while this ends the contest for now, it won’t be long before we’re back with the regular-season contest. Lots of teams open camp later this month and you know what that means. Yeah, season’s just around the corner. Until then, if you need more of Amanda, check out the NLL story on her, or the one we put together a while back.
