Lacrosse Links: Talking about the Prout trade
The internets (at least in Edmonton and Rochester) are buzzing with news of yesterday’s blockbuster trade that sent Gavin Prout west to Edmonton along with Dean Hill in exchange for draft picks.
The Edmonton Journal describes the move as ‘netting a big fish in lacrosse’, describing the seven-time All-Star out of Loyola College, who is 31.
“[Prout] had been a consistent and dynamic offensive threat in this league for a long time and I think he will continue to produce in a big way here in Edmonton, plus give our other offensive players that much room to work as well,” Rush head coach and general manager Derek Keenan said in a press release.
The Examiner described Rochester – which acquired Prout on Halloween, as being “busier than the most devoted Starbucks addict” in their off-season moves while Slam went with a fairly simple recap of the players involved in the trade (Rochester received Edmonton’s 2011 first-round draft choice along with a conditional second-round selection).
