NLL training camps set to open

We’re not exactly breaking news here today, but the National Lacrosse League season is nigh upon us and you know what that means: You’re about to lose your mind. You know how you get when the NLL is in season. You’ve long had your calendar marked for all the home games and you’re debating which road trips to make and how to justify calling in sick so you can hit the road. And while it’s still a bit more than a full month away from the opening face, we thought we’d do you a service and let ya’ll know what’s up with training camps around the NLL and when they open.

Some camps are open to the public, some are not. And for some teams, we got more information than we did for others but at the very least, we figure to let ya know when the camps at least kick off and the boys start getting their legs back after a well-deserved summer break.

Boston Blazers: The Blazers kick things off with a pair of tryout sessions on Nov. 21 (5 p.m.) and Nov. 22 (9 a.m.), followed by camp sessions on Dec. 4 (9 p.m.), Dec. 5 (6 p.m.), Dec. 11 (9 p.m.) and Dec. 12 (6 p.m.). Sessions are at Teamworks Revere on Charger Street in Revere, Mass., and are open to the public.

Buffalo Bandits: The Bandits are hosting a tryout session Nov. 28 and 29 at Lakemount Sportsworld in Grimsby, Ontario, and a pair of closed training camp sessions on Dec. 5 and 6, again at Lakemount. Keep your eye on the team’s Web site for details about the Dec. 12 training camp session at HSBC Arena that will be open to the public.

Calgary Roughnecks: The Roughies open on Dec. 5 (8-10 p.m., North) with dates to follow on Dec. 6 (8-10 a.m., West), Dec. 12 (8-10 p.m., North), Dec. 13 (8-10 a.m., West), Dec. 18 (8-10 p.m., North), Dec. 19 (exhibition vs. Edmonton Rush at Enmax Centre-Lethbridge, 7:30 p.m.), Jan. 2 (8-10 p.m., North) and Jan. 3 (8-10 a.m., North). Sessions are at the North East Calgary Soccer Centre and the North West Calgary Soccer Centre. Portions of the camp is open to the public. Keep an eye on the Roughnecks Web site for more information to be announced.

Colorado Mammoth: The Mammoth open Nov. 20 at Broomfield Events Center and sessions are closed to the public.

Edmonton Rush: The Rush open camp on Dec. 5 at the Leduc Recreation Centre in Edmonton. Sessions are open to the public. Keep an eye on the team’s Web site for dates and times.

Minnesota Swarm: The Swarm open on Nov. 27 at Six Nations, Ontario, and sessions are not open to the public. The team will have workouts on Nov. 28 and 29 at Six Nations before shifting to St. Paul, Minn., on Dec. 3. The Dec. 4 workout in Des Moines, Iowa, precedes the Dec. 5 exhibition game (7 p.m.) against the Colorado Mammoth.

Orlando Titans: The Titans open on Nov. 21-22 at Barber Park in Orlando. Times are tentatively set for noon to 2 p.m. and again from 4-6 p.m. Sessions are open to the public and bleacher seating is available.

Philadelphia Wings: The Wings open on Nov. 14 at Bucksmont Indoor Sports Center from noon to 2 p.m. and again from 8-10 p.m. Other dates are Nov. 21 (6-8 p.m.), Nov. 22 (9-11 a.m.), Dec. 5 (10-noon, 6-8 p.m.), Dec. 6 (9-11 a.m.), Dec. 18 (9-11 p.m.), Dec. 19 (10 to noon, 6-8 p.m.), Dec. 20 (9-11 a.m.), Dec. 26 (6-8 p.m.) and Dec. 27 (9-11 a.m.). All sessions are open to the public.

Rochester Knighthawks: The Knighthawks open Nov. 22 at Total Sports Experience from 8-11 a.m. with other sessions scheduled for No.v 28 (5-8 p.m.) and Nov. 29 (8-11 a.m.). Sessions are open to the public.

Toronto Rock: The Rock opened rookie camp on Nov. 11 with future dates scheduled for Nov. 14, Nov. 15 and Nov. 22. The main camp opens Nov. 28 at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville. The rest of the scheduled dates are Nov. 29, Dec. 6, Dec. 8, Dec. 13, Dec. 15, Dec. 19, Dec. 22 and Dec. 29.

Washington Stealth: The Stealth open in their new digs at Comcast Arena on Dec. 4 with physicals and practices on Dec. 5 and 6.
