Jamie Rooney behind enemy lines, Shawn Williams post-game, Randy Couture smashes The Hammer, plus the links
Just days after being moved to the Boston Blazers via the Rochester Knighthawks, Jamie Rooney not only suited up for the Blazers this weekend, his first game in Beantown was up against his former teal-and-white friends. Results? Well, beyond good for Rooney, not only cuz of his two-goal and one-helper night, but Boston crushed the Hawks too, 14-8, Rooney’s lone assist helping set up the game winner. Was Rooney’s time in the Hawk’s camp even more beneficial on Saturday night than his stats? Find out in the vid above, and check out the rest of the links after the jump.

Shawn Williams‘ post-game thoughts on the Hawks above loss to the Blazers, and what they’ll need to do heading into Week 6 so the same things doesn’t happen again…
Rooney debut – “In practice we ran it where Dan would draw and dump to Daryl (Veltman). When he passed it to me I was like, ‘Oh my God, don’t screw up.’ ” – Rooney (New England Lax Journal)
Hair & now – “I just wanted to grow my hair out … We have a cancer game April 3rd and I’m going to cut my hair and give it to ‘Locks for Love,’ which makes wigs for cancer patients.” – Paul Dawson (New England Lax Journal)
Orange bright spot – “I thought Jeremy Thompson did a great job facing off for us. He played some good offense for us, too.’ – John Desko on former Akwesasne and St. Regis Indian Jeremy Thompson (The Daily Orange)
Adanacs Jones’n- The Coqutilam Adanacs drafted former Delta Islander Jason Jones, who also suited up for Minto Cup finalists Brampton Excels, in last week’s WLA draft. “He’s a good ball player and comes from a lacrosse family. He’s a goal-scorer. He’s not really big but he’s gritty. He doesn’t get knocked around a whole bunch.” – Les Wingrove on the pro undrafted Jones, a name to watch for as a potential NLL prospect in coming seasons (The Tri-City News)

Iroquois Lacrosse Arena – Although built initially to house lacrosse, the ILA in Six Nations has also served as a venue for some pretty good MMA action, which has been on hiatus for the last while due to Ontario’s unwillingness to allow the sport of mixed martial arts to hold any sanctioned live events (an ongoing issue even the UFC has been involved in for many years). “If we got an agreement from the band council then we’ll go but if we don’t … I don’t want to end up back in court again. It didn’t accomplish anything. We spent a lot of money and ended up nowhere.” – Delby Powless Sr. (Brantford Expositor)
