Insider has learned that two-time Minto Cup champion Andrew Suitor intends on making himself available a year earlier than expected and will be officially entering the 2010 National Lacrosse League entry draft in coming weeks.
The Orangeville Northmen’s versatile, do-everything pro prospect had previously been attending NCAA Division III RIT, Adrian College previous to that, and would have been entering his Senior year at the school this upcoming season, opting out of his final year in the US, which will allow him to deem himself eligible for the 2011 NLL season.
Insider had previously ranked Suitor as our sixth top prospect in the stacked 2011 entry draft, the Northmen’s on-and-off floor leader a likely high to middle first rounder this year as well.
Suitor confirmed with Insider that he’s made his intent to enter the draft this year known to the league via their online Draft Inquiry Form and is awaiting a response from the NLL to ensure he’ll be draft eligible for the upcoming draft.
A Second Team defender on the Ontario Lacrosse Association’s year-end All-Star Team this year, Suitor was an Honourable Mention for Insider’s Junior of the Year last year, as well as a finalist for Defender of the Year (that honour going to fellow highly regarded 2010 entry draft prospect Kyle Rubisch) and an All-Canadian First Team member.
In our latest scouting report on Suitor, Insider published…
His tenacious, balls to the wall style have some tagging Suitor as the next Geoff Snider, a top shelf fighter (check out Suitor and NLLer Rory Smith going toe-to-toe two summers back)and face-off guy that can play some seriously good lacrosse too. He’s been a backbone player during both Orangeville Minto Cup seasons over the last two years and has a rep as being one of the best ‘team guys’ in the sport. Gritty, mean and would do anything asked of him to secure the W. Was rumoured to potentially be going into the draft early even last year, Suitor is likely a top ten player on every team’s watch list presently.
