How many NLL games will you attend?

So the National Lacrosse League season is approaching and the boys are starting their training camps around the league. Getting loose, getting their sticks back and connecting with schemes and coaches again. That’s all find and dandy for them. But what about us? The fans. How do WE get ready for the season and by getting ready, we mean what are your plans for getting to the barn? Are you a season-ticket holder with plans for every single home game? Casual fan with plans for a game or two? What’s up with your plans for this NLL season? READ MORE »

Should the NLL have a 2-point shot?

Yeah, yeah, it sounds kinda ridiculous. The whole idea of a 2-point shot in the National Lacrosse League is downright sacreligous for some. Don’t mess with tradition, right? But be honest about this: How many times has your team been down by a deuce with about 30 ticks left and you think to yourself how nice it’d be if your boys could knot this thing up with just one massive shot from the perimeter. It’d be sweet, don’t ya think? And you know the place would erupt if your team got itself back into the game with a 2-pointer, or even sealed a close game with some cushion. READ MORE »

Fan poll: Of the teams without an NLL title, which will be the first to win one?

It’s time to take a look at the have-nots. There are a handful of National Lacrosse League teams out there who have come close, but haven’t quite experienced the thrill of winning it all. The Titans were runners-up last season and the rest of the teams, well, the rest of the have-nots that we’re thinking about have had some playoff experience. So while fans in Buffalo, Rochester, Calgary, Philadelphia Toronto and Colorado all know what it’s like to celebrate a title, today’s question is this: Which NLL team that has not won a league championship will be the first to do it? Up for debate: Faceoff style

We get pretty amped when we see the two fellas stroll into the circle for the faceoff because we know that the action’s about to get started. Crouching, sticks on the ground with the crosse hugging the lacrosse ball, we know that once that ref’s hand drops, it comes with the whistle and game is on! But, we ask, can faceoffs be any cooler than they already are? What we see in the National Lacrosse League is the two drawmen with their backs to the goal. What if the drawmen had their backs to the side boards? That’s the question we present today. READ MORE »

NLL fans: Which team has the best pre-game show?

We’ve got Harleys in Colorado, a Native dance in Rochester and bagpipes in Buffalo. Elsewhere in the National lacrosse League, fireworks, music and mascots are all over the place and your juices are flowin’, even before the first faceoff. It’s all by design, of course, and it gets fans and players, like the Boston Blazers in this pic, amped. We’re talkin’ pre-game shows for the player intros and the question today is: Which team has the best pre-game show? You think your team does it right? Or have you ever been to another barn and quietly admitted to yourself that hey, I wish MY team did this. READ MORE »

NLL fan poll: How many sports fans have you converted to lacrosse?

We’ve all been in this position, trying to explain the National Lacrosse League to the uneducated. Who among us hasn’t been asked: “Isn’t that the game where they whack each other with sticks?” It’s tough for us to fathom such ignorance, given that the game is such a huge part of our lives. But it puts us in the position of being a preacher, telling any and all who will listen that if you just give the game a try, you’ll love it! So the question is, have you ever converted anyone and if so, how many? READ MORE »

NLL fan poll: How much lacrosse playing experience do you have?

This much, we know: We love the National Lacrosse League as fans. We pretty much love any sort of box lacrosse. Otherwise, you probably wouldn’t even be at this Web site or even reading these words. But for as many fans as this game has, how many of you have actually played the game? Be it organized, professional or just the simple pick-up games. We wanna know how much lacrosse playing experience you have. And if you tell us you don’t have any, you really don’t have any excuse, especially with stuff like the Fann Cup around, giving anyone and everyone a chance to play. READ MORE »

Wooden sticks: Yea or nay?

We all know how far back the game of lacrosse goes, and it’s way before the age of plastic. These days, players know nothing but Tupperware and it’s brought the game, not to mention stick tricks, to a whole new level. There’s a lot to be said about these new-fangled sticks. Break yours? Run to the store, pick up a new wand and in minutes, you’re ready to get your game back on. Not so with the wooden sticks. These babies took time to break in and adjust. And that brings us to our big question: Should National Lacrosse League players be allowed to use wooeden sticks? READ MORE »

What kind of NLL fan are you?

We know it takes all kinds to make this world go around, and that doesn’t exclude the National Lacrosse League and its fans. So that’s what we’re asking this weekend in the NLL fan poll: What kind of NLL fan are you? We’ve all been to games and we’ve all see all types of fans. From the fellas ridin’ the refs up in Section 800 as if the refs can actually here ‘em. To the quiet people relaxing in their seats, just praying the Kiss Cam doesn’t find them during a timeout. And, of course, there’s everyone else in between. Our game’s got ‘em all but it’s time for you to let us know what’s up with your style when you’re rollin’. READ MORE »

How many NLL jerseys do you own?

We’re all fans of the game, which means we’ve all dreamed of what it’d be like to be on the floor for a National Lacrosse League game. You know you’ve wondered what it’d be like to try to D up John Grant Jr. Or what it’d be like to have a breakaway shot against Bob Watson. Or what it’d be like to beat Geoff Snider on a faceoff. And if you haven’t had that thought in your dome, then you’re lyin’. Truth is, most of us will never be that lucky so we do the thing that’ll get us closest: We buy jerseys, which prompts the obvious question. READ MORE »
