It’s time to crown a champion for the National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest and this season’s final matchup brings us Gina from the Boston Blazers and Marie from the Philadelphia Wings. Impressed as we were with the more than 103,000 votes cast during this past week’s semifinal matchup between Heidi and Marie, it’s not too difficult to figure out where these votes came from and how they got here. But there’s no rule against that, and Marie moves on to the final by a final count of 62,502 to Heidi’s 50,912. So flip the page to see the finalists and read some of their thoughts about being in the title matchup. READ MORE »

We’ll call it the National Lacrosse League battle of the brunettes. National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: Semifinal No. 1 is Gina vs. Kelly

By now, Gina and Kelly are seasoned veterans in the perspective of this National Lacrosse League League Girl of the Week contest. Each have a pair of victories when it comes to polling, but today, they’re butting heads for a spot in the 2009 championship matchup. Gina’s cracked more than 1,000 votes in each of her wins, while Kelly cleared the 3,000 count in her quarterfinal victory. National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: Matchup 10 is Krystle vs. Heidi

We’re back for more voting in our weekly National Lacrosse League Girls of the Week contest and after Kelly beat Emily by a nifty vote count of 3,112 to 2,561, all we’re left with now is the last quarterfinal matchup. That pits Krystle up against Heidi and we gotta warn Krystle and her fans. Heidi absolutely cleaned up in her last outing, garnering more than 7,500 votes. As coincidence might have it, though, Krystle comes to us from the Calgary Roughnecks, who, of course, are playing for all the marbles this weekend. Will Krystle do the same? That depends on you voters, doesn’t it? READ MORE »

National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: Matchup 9 is Emily vs. Kelly

Doris has had her day, it appears. She has Gina of the Boston Blazers to thank for that, because Gina rolled into the semifinal bracket of our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest by a count of 1,421-350. So even if the Blazers are finished with their first season, Gina took it upon herself to keep Beantown in the headlines. Like the Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox aren’t doing that on their own! Still, it’s cool to see Gina and the Blazers still representin’ and who she faces in the first semifinal depends on who wins this week’s matchup: Emily of the Wings or Kelly of the Rush. National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: Matchup 8 is Gina vs. Doris

Popular is the word we’re looking for today. The week before that, more than 14,000 votes were cast, so it’s gonna be pretty interesting to see what happens with our next matchup: Gina vs. Doris. National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: It’s Kirsten vs. Marie

It’s been a bit of time since last we had an installment of our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest, and for good reason. When ya get 14,068 total votes cast, it tends to get the attention of the tournament director. The way we figure, Heidi’s 7,506-6,562 win over Angela had a lot to do with the fact that they dance for the same Colorado Mammoth team but whatever, we sure were tickled pink to see the interest. Who says democracy is dead? We vote for the important issues and now it’s time to meet Kirsten and Marie for the final first-round matchup. READ MORE »

National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: It’s Marie from Philadelphia

So the Philadelphia Wings aren’t a dancer in the National Lacrosse League playoffs, but that doesn’t mean the season is over. Is it ever over for this Girls of the Week thang? Didn’t think so. That’s why we’re bringing you Marie, a rookie dancer for the Philadelphia Angels as the latest National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week. At just 19, she’s been dancing for 16 or 17 years, which pretty much means all her life. So you just know she loves what she does and she’s got plenty of heart and spirit for her favorite NLL team. National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: It’s Kirsten of the Buffalo Bandits

If anyone knows how to kick it, it’s Kirsten. And the rookie member of the Buffalo Bandits dance team has kicked her way right on to the recognition platform known as the National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week. She’s new to the Western New York scene after growing up on Long Island, and moving across the state hasn’t changed her groove one bit. Such a big move may seem like a chore, but this champion dancer fits right in with a championship team. READ MORE »

Every once in a while, we have a blowout winner on the National Lacrosse League floor, so why should these voting matchups be any different? Congrats all around for Kelly, the latest National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week to advance in our little weekly contest. The dancer for the Edmonton Rush moved past Vanessa of the Portland LumberJax by a vote count of 251-112. Not a very impressive vote total between the two, so get your act together, voters! It’s time for Matchup No. 5 of this here contest and if Krystle or Brookelyn don’t make you rock the vote, they’ll surely go down in any contest held for unique spellings. We’ve got the stats to back it up. So call up that extra browser window so you can hide this one quickly if the boss comes around the corner. READ MORE »

National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: Matchup 4 is Vanessa vs. Kelly

Philly represent! Fans of the National Lacrosse League’s Philadelphia Wings and their dance team turned out in force to support dancer Emily, who defeats Jennifer of the San Jose Stealth by a vote count of 737-581 in the third matchup of our Girls of the Week contest. We’re kinda surprised, to be honest, since Jennifer is pretty much the only NLL Girl of the Week to draw some attention over at WingsZone. But, it is what it is and forward we go to Portland’s Vanessa vs. Edmonton’s Kelly. READ MORE »

National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: It’s Brookelyn of the Toronto Rock

If we’ve said it once before, we’ve said more than we should have, but it appears to be Doris’ day. The New York Titans dance team member rolled to victory in Matchup No. 2 of our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest, outpolling Toronto’s Laura by a hefty margin, 470-198. This week, we’ve got Heidi from the Colorado Mammoth’s Wild Bunch as the National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week. Like we had to ask. Just flip the page. READ MORE »

National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: Matchup 2 is Doris vs. Laura

Not even close. In our first National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week matchup for this season, Gina rolled to an amazingly dominant victory by a vote count of 1,702 to 64. Maybe the chowerheads stuffed the ballot box, maybe they didn’t. Whatever the case, Gina steps into the next round as we move on to Matchup No. 2: It’s Doris of the New York Titans dance team against Laura of the Toronto Rock. We had more than 1,700 voters for this first matchup, so let’s see if we can clear the 2,000 mark this time. Ready? Set. Vote. READ MORE »

National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: Matchup 1 is Gina vs. Meghan

Well, well, well. We’re back.  What better week to kick off our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest than during the All-Star break? Not that we want a breather from all the action of the game, but it is important that we recognize the efforts of others who help the game so much. And just so ya know, this contest has NOTHING to do with how hot the dancers are. Nothing like that at all. So git yer mind outta the gutter and take a look at our first round matchup, Boston’s Gina vs.  Buffalo’s Meghan. READ MORE »

National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: It’s Kelly of the Edmonton Crush

Don’t stare at Kelly’s picture for very long. Not only is it not very gentleman-like, chances are Kelly knows what’s on that mind of yours. This week’s National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week is not only used to having fans stare at her while she dances, she backs it up with a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology. So yeah, take the advice of Seinfeld (It’s like looking at the sun. You don’t stare at it. It’s too risky!!), take your look and then get to know why Kelly likes to dance. READ MORE »
