Will the National Lacrosse League (NLL) expand beyond North America?

October 23-24, the National Lacrosse League (NLL) will feature its indoor lacrosse game down under in Melbourne, Australia, with an ‘NLL All-Star Series’ featuring some of the game’s best professional lacrosse players.

“This series demonstrates the international growth of lacrosse and the NLL,” offered league Commissioner George Daniel, when the league officially made the announcement in June. “We are excited about bringing the world’s best players to Australia.”  READ MORE »

Who’ll keep scoring?

We kinda fudged things up when trying to track Steve Toll’s consecutive games played streak last year (sorry again about that Steve), but thought we’d take a run at another consecutive record, at least part of the way.

Since 2005 (and a bit of ‘04 if the stats spilled into that season), what do you think is the longest consecutive goals scored streak in the league? AKA, how many consecutive games has a pro gone without a goose egg under the G column on gameday (not including playoffs)?

With 16-game regular seasons, how many straight games do you think someone was able to stretch that number? Get ready to he surprised as hell after the jump, not cuz of who did it, but because of how many games this guy kept going strong. READ MORE »

Colin Doyle is just 36 points shy of 1000 for his career.

Last year we took a quick look at the National Lacrosse League’s 600 club (regular season point totals). Who belonged, who was on the verge of cracking it and who’d likely be missing inclusion over their careers.

Heading into the ‘09 regular season, the 600 club had a prestigious nine members, as of today, they’ve got 17 ball players crashing the tree house, with upwards of potentially another ten pros learning the secret handshake for full club access this coming season. Who do we project on making it past the 600 plateau, among other clubs, in 2010? Find out, after the jump. READ MORE »

Which coaches will be in the hot seat this year?

We were gonna phrase today’s Big Q, “Who will be the first coach fired in 2010?” but thought that might be a little harsh considering we’re still a good almost three months outside of the season and no coaches have even had a chance to step on a bench to lead their crew.

What we will do today though is check out each current NLL coach’s “working situation”, looking at how stable their gig might be depending on how things play out in 2010.

Don’t think anyone will get the axe this year? Only six coaches from last year’s season opener are running the same bench heading into 2010, which included three in-season offings. Not the greatest odds.

So after the jump, find out whose job is probably pretty safe next year and who’ll need some likely on-floor and standings success to remain coaching in their current city. READ MORE »

Kasey Beirnes and the Toronto Rock face one helluva regular season sked in 2010.

Before we get into the question posed above, quick primer first on what is taking place over the next couple months.
